Tony Kim is Co-President of Investment Banking at Centerview Partners LLC and was part of the founding team at the firm’s creation in 2006.
Mr. Kim has spent his 25+ year career focused on strategic advice and M&A across a broad range of sectors, including technology, media, consumer products, energy, oil and gas, industrials, healthcare, and financial institutions. He has executed over $800 billion in transactions over the course of his career. Selected assignments include advising Scale AI on its investment at a $29bn valuation from Meta, Disney on its acquisition of the remaining stake in Hulu at a $28bn valuation from Comcast, its proxy contest with Trian and its merger of Hulu Live with Fubo, Kimberly-Clark on the staged exit of its international tissue business to Suzano and its acquisition of Softex Indonesia, Nordstrom on its sale to the Nordstrom family and Liverpool, Exxon Mobil on its $65bn merger with Pioneer Natural Resources and its proxy contest with Engine No. 1, FIS on its $19bn sale of Worldpay to GTCR, Cerner on its $29bn sale to Oracle, Tiffany on its $17bn sale to LVMH, CVS on its $77bn acquisition of Aetna, General Electric on the $32 billion merger of its oil and gas business with Baker Hughes, and Duke Energy on its discussions with shareholder activist Elliott Management.
Other transactions include advising Altria on its $113 billion spin-off of Philip Morris International, its $62 billion spin-off of Kraft Foods and its $12 billion acquisition of UST; Kraft Foods on its $58 billion merger with Heinz, the $30 billion spin-off of its North American grocery business, its $22 billion acquisition of Cadbury and its $19 billion acquisition of Nabisco; InBev on its $52 billion acquisition of Anheuser-Busch; General Electric on its $35 billion exit of GE Capital, its $18 billion sale of NBC Universal to Comcast and its $14 billion acquisition of Alstom; Alliance Boots on its $30 billion two-step sale to Walgreens; CSX on its $10 billion acquisition of Conrail; and News Corporation on its acquisition of Dow Jones.
Mr. Kim has been profiled in business publications including The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Financial Times, and Business Insider. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at Lazard and Wasserstein Perella & Co. He is a member of the Board of Directors at DREAM, Greater NY, The Korea Society, Lincoln Center, and Prep for Prep. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Kim holds a B.S. and B.A. from The Wharton School and the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
