Christian Kornhoff is a partner in Centerview’s London office. He has over 15 years of Investment Banking experience working with Financial Institutions across banks, financial technology, payments, asset management, specialty finance and insurance.
Since joining Centerview, Christian advised on some of the largest and most noteworthy transactions across the industry. Recent transactions include Santander’s acquisition of Webster Bank in the US and TSB in the UK, the sale of 49% of Santander Bank Polska, Deutsche Börse’s acquisition of a minority stake in ISS STOXX, the sale of With Intelligence to S&P, the sale of Alpha Group to Corpay, the sale of Takepayments to Global Payments, the sale of Credit Suisse to UBS, and the sale of Credit Suisse’s Securitised Products Group to Apollo.
Other noteworthy transactions include the sale of HSBC's US domestic mass market retail banking business to Citizens and Cathay, the sale of Bank Norwegian to Nordax, Sampo’s acquisition of Hastings, Standard Chartered’s sale of Permata Bank, Ninety One’s spin-off from Investec, Aberdeen Asset Management’s merger with Standard Life, Standard Life Aberdeen’s sale of the majority of its insurance business to Phoenix, the sale of Aldermore to FirstRand, UKFI’s privatisation of HMTs shareholding in Lloyds Banking Group, the sale of Brit to Fairfax, the sale of Catlin to XL, Warburg Pincus’s sale of Source ETF to Invesco, Bridgepoint's sale of Quilter Cheviot to Old Mutual, CIT's acquisition of OneWest Bank, the sale of Whitney Bank to Hancock Bank, General Atlantic's sale of a minority stake in Saxo Bank to TPG Capital, London Stock Exchange’s proposed merger with Deutsche Börse, and the sale of Climate Exchange to Intercontinental Exchange. Additionally, Christian has advised on numerous capital raisings and IPOs during and post the global financial crisis.
Prior to joining Centerview in 2022, Christian worked in J.P. Morgan’s Financial Institutions Group in both London and New York.
Christian holds a degree in Business Administration with distinction from the University of Paderborn. He lives in London with his wife and two children.
