James Hartop joined Centerview Partners in 2015 and has over 25 years of experience across global M&A, equity and debt capital markets.
His transaction experience spans the globe and different industries, with involvement in a number of landmark transactions including Anglo American’s response to an unsolicited c.£40 billion merger proposal from Xstrata; the US$8 billion demerger of Mondi; the Thomson Corporation’s c.US$17 billion acquisition of Reuters; AB Inbev’s c.US$104 billion acquisition of SAB Miller; AstraZeneca’s $39 billion acquisition of Alexion and the proposed c.US$40 billion merger of Royal DSM and Firmenich.
James has particular depth of experience in global natural resources and has advised on over 50 transactions across the sector.
James was previously at UBS where he held a variety of roles including Head of Investment Banking for Europe, Middle East and Asia.
James holds BA and MA degrees from Trinity College, Oxford University.
