John Ferguson is a Partner at Centerview Partners. Mr. Ferguson has over 20 years of experience advising companies on strategic and transaction execution across the General Industries sector, among others.
Mr. Ferguson has advised clients on a number of notable transactions including the following: Stanley Black & Decker’s sale of its Access Technologies business to Allegion and its acquisition of MTD Holdings; Resideo’s acquisition of First Alert; Fortive’s separation of Vontier and its acquisition of Industrial Scientific; United Rentals’ acquisitions of BakerCorp, BlueLine Rental, Neff Corporation and NES Rentals; Honeywell on its spin-off of AdvanSix, the sale of its performance footwear business to Rocky Brands, and its acquisitions of Intermec and Sperian; Henry Schein on the spin-off and merger of its animal health business with Vets First Choice in a $4bn Reverse Morris Trust; John Deere on its majority stake sale of JD Landscapes (now SiteOne) to CD&R; Chrysler VEBA on the sale of its 41.5% stake in Chrysler to Fiat; Westlake on its acquisition of Vinnolit; United Technologies on its sale of Rocketdyne to GenCorp; AEA on its sale of Houghton International to Gulf Oil; HD Supply on its sale of IPVF to Shale-Inland; Solutia on its sale to Eastman Chemical; Carlyle on its sales of AxleTech to General Dynamics and Rexnord to Apollo; Bucyrus on its sale to Caterpillar; Sparta on its sale to Cobham; General Motors on its sales of Allison Transmission to Carlyle and Onex and Nexteer to Pacific Century Motors; Schneider Electric on its acquisitions of APC and BEI Technologies; and NAVTEQ on its sale to Nokia.
Prior to joining Centerview Partners in 2014, Mr. Ferguson was a Managing Director in the M&A group at Deutsche Bank, and spent 12 years between Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Industrials groups.
Mr. Ferguson holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University and an M.B.A. from The Darden School at the University of Virginia. Mr. Ferguson is a CFA charterholder.
