Yann Krychowski has over 25 years of Investment Banking experience advising financial institutions. He has worked with banks, insurers, reinsurers, asset managers and specialized finance companies, on a wide variety of M&A, equity, debt and capital restructurings transactions with a particular focus on France, Benelux and Switzerland. Given his involvement in large FI M&A he has developed a particular expertise in public takeover situations. Yann also led the largest restructuring of French troubled lenders (Dexia, CIF) on behalf of the French government.
Prior to joining Centerview Yann was co-head of Investment Banking for France and Belux at Barclays. He recently advised on the Banque Postale public takeover and subsequent delisting of CNP (€5bn) and on Covea takeover of Partner Re (U$9bn) two of the largest M&A insurance deals in Europe. Yann took part in the strategic transformation of the Banque Postale into one of the leading French bank through several transactions such as the setup of the JV between LBP AM and Natixis AM in specific assets classes representing €400bn of AUM, the increase of LBP stake in CNP from 20% to 62% through the contribution of CDC stake to La Poste (€6bn), LBP acquisition of Groupama 35% stake in LBP Assurances IARD, their JV in non-life insurance, LBP acquisition of Socgen 35% stake in LBP Personal Finance, their JV in consumer Finance as well as the renewal of CNP and LBP bancassurance agreement.
Yann also led many transactions in the various sub sector of financial institutions notably bancassurance, such as the sale of Ageas 33% stake in Cardif Lux Vie for BNPP and Ageas, Socgen acquisition of the 50% of Antarius, its bancassurance JV with Aviva; leasing and fleet management advising GE Capital in the sale of its European Leasing and Factoring activities to Crédit Mutuel, Socgen on the IPO of ALD, BNPP Arval and Element on their joint acquisition of GE Capital global Fleet operations; online banking advising Groupama on the sale of Groupama Banque to Orange to create Orange Bank; insurance and wealth management advising AXA in its divestiture of its UK life and Wealth activities in 3 transactions to LCCG, Standard Life and Phoenix; retail banking advising Barclays in the sale of its retail banking activities in France to Anacap and Socgen on its international retail banking expansion; asset management advising Dexia on the sale of Dexia AM to NYLIM; brokerage with the sale of Sofaxis; brokerage and securities services with the sale of Newedge to Socgen.
Yann started his career at Salomon Brothers in London, progressing to Head of Fig for France and Belgium for Schroder Salomon Smith Barney and finally Citi. Whilst there he notably took part in the landmark transactions in the financial sector notably the privatization of Crédit Lyonnais, Credit Agricole €20bn takeover of Crédit Lyonnais, the €15bn merger of CNCE and Natexis to create Natixis, Banques Populaires acquisition of HSBC French regional banks for €2.1bn, AXA €8bn acquisition of Winterthur, the merger of Caisses d’Epargne and Banques Populaires to create BPCE, the creation of the French Postal Bank, Azur GMF merger with MAAF MMA to create Covea, among others.
Yann graduated from ESCP Europe (1994) and holds a German Diplom Kaufmann.
He is married with four children and lives in Saint-Cloud (France).
